Just so we're clear, this might not have actually happened. But LOL(!) if it did.
According to Dirty Red Commie (a blogger) "the famous 'theater' outlines from Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K) were superimposed over the Olympics broadcast on August 17 between about 2:00 and 3:13 p.m. Mountain time."
So funny! If true, bummer there was no commentary.
