Vanessa Hudgens's "Identified" Dropped, It's Bad
As you may know, Vanessa Hudgens's (High School Musical) sophomore, solo album--Identified--dropped today. And if she's been Identified as anything, it's being a bad musician.
Seriously, I thought I could download the album and happily power walk to it at the gym. But no. If it were a bodily function, Identified would blow chunks. And I should add, I get pumped by some really terrible music while on the treadmill (Britney Spears's Blackout, Ashlee Simpson's Bittersweet World, etc.).
The first track I listened to--"Last Night"--seemed kind of promising, with its catchy lyrics and up-tempo beat. But, with the exception of the title track, it was all down hill from there.
"Party on the Moon"-Bad, Hilary-Duff-sounding ripoff.
"Sneakernight"- Meh/Borderline stupid.
"Vulnerable"- Generic.
"Identified"- Ok. As it should be. It's the title track.
"Hook it Up"- Annoying.
"Amazed" feat. Lil Mama- I read an AP critic thought this could be a Top 40 Hit. I don't want to sound like an old fogie or anything, but is this what the kids are listening to, and liking, these day?! Snooze-worthy. It's a half-assed collaboration at best.
And that's as far as I got.
BTW: Feel free to disagree.
