Clay Aiken, 29, gave his first post-coming out interview to Diane Sawyer on Thursday morning. And DListed is right, Gayken is likable (gasp!). And he's also kind of funny.
Anyway, don't be weirded out by the intro. (which includes Aiken singing a lullaby to his six-week old baby). It picks up after that.
Additional Note: While Claymates, (i.e. Gayken's fanatical fans, who I guess, consist primarily of middle-aged women), have, reportedly, been mostly supportive of his revealed homosexuality, comments left on message boards suggest that at least a few of his fans are kinda having a hard time dealing with the news.
"I've cried a river of tears and truthfully do not know where I stand right now. I am envious of those who can take this news and continue to state their unconditional love and support for Clay"--Clayncfan at The Clayboard
Others just flat out refuse to believe it.
"[The People cover] Reeks of photoshop to me. We can probably even find the picture of Clay's head from a recent fan photo if we look hard enough. Believe if you want, I just know that nothing is true unless it is printed in the fan club..."-- Playbiller at AikenForums.com.
