William's paternal grandmother, formally installed the prince as a Royal Knight as an early 26th birthday present (his birthday is June 21), according to

All of which is cool and everything, but why did it have to involve this ridiculous getup?

Even when they're not playing with swords or slaying dragons, I thought knights got to wear bad ass chain metal or suits of armor.
